What it treats

Laser treatments can improve sun spots and other brown spots, rosacea-related redness, visible facial blood vessels, spider veins, and selected acne concerns as part of a broader treatment plan. We recommend laser treatments based on the concern you want to address rather than focusing on a specific device.

Different lasers are designed to target different features in the skin. Some target excess pigment in brown spots, while others target blood vessels that contribute to redness or visible veins. This allows treatment to focus on the intended concern while minimizing effects on the surrounding skin.

Safety Considerations

Before treatment — We evaluate your skin type, skin tone, and treatment goals to select the most appropriate treatment, device, and depth. Our procedures are performed as a series, with results developing gradually over weeks to months rather than after a single visit.

Recovery and aftercare — Temporary redness, sensitivity, swelling, or skin changes are common during healing. Recovery varies by treatment and depth. You’ll receive personalized aftercare instructions, including daily sun protection with a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen as a must.

Skin tone safety — Patients with medium to deep skin tones have a higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (temporary darkening or lightening after inflammation). We tailor treatment selection, device settings, and technique to help minimize this risk and provide safe, individualized care.

Who performs your treatment — Chemical peels, microneedling, laser treatments, HydraFacial, and laser hair removal are performed by our licensed aestheticians and directed by our dermatologists.

Your evaluation — We begin with a medical evaluation to determine whether laser treatment is appropriate for your skin type, skin tone, and treatment goals.

What we review first — Before treatment, we review your medical history, medications, and skincare products. Recent sun exposure, tanning, certain medications, or a history of cold sores may require modifications to your treatment plan or delaying treatment.

Eye protection — Protective eyewear is worn by everyone in the treatment room throughout the procedure.

What’s normal afterward — Temporary redness, swelling, and darkening of treated pigment are common and vary depending on the laser used and the condition being treated.

Sun protection — Daily sun protection is essential after treatment. Your provider will review personalized aftercare instructions, including how long to avoid direct sun exposure and when you can resume your usual skincare routine.

Laser treatment may not be appropriate if you have an active skin infection, cold sore, significant tan or sunburn, certain photosensitizing medications, a history of keloid scarring, or are pregnant. Patients with melasma or medium to deep skin tones may require a modified treatment approach to reduce the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Treatment as a series — Many laser treatments are performed as a series. We monitor your progress and personalize your treatment plan to help you achieve the best possible results.

Results vary by person, and nothing is guaranteed. Your provider reviews your medications and medical history before treating. We do not perform certain elective cosmetic treatments during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Aftercare is personalized to your skin and reviewed with you at your visit.
