Dermal Fillers
What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are gel-like substances that are injected under the skin to restore a youthful and refreshed appearance of the face and other areas. They improve volume in the face, minimize the appearance of lines, improve under eye hollows, enhance the sweep of cheekbones and plump up lips.
As you age, your body produces less collagen. Collagen is a naturally occurring structural protein that is present throughout your body. As the amount of collagen lessens, your skin will lose both volume and elasticity. With the decrease in collagen production comes the appearance of aging. We use dermal fillers to prevent or reverse that.
A dermal filler treatment typically takes 30 mins to two hours, and recovery time is minimal. Depending on the location and type of dermal filler that is injected, results will last from six months to 2 years. At Advanced Dermatology and Aesthetic Medicine, we treat each of our patients individually. Your board certified dermatologist will discuss the results you are looking to achieve and determine the best dermal filler option for you.
What Are Dermal Fillers Made Of?
The dermal fillers we use at Advanced Dermatology and Aesthetic Medicine are made with the naturally occurring substance, hyaluronic acid (HA). There are several different companies that make these, the most common names being Restylane and Juvederm. Each type of filler uses a different particle size, to provide a tailored treatment to restore a natural, youthful face. It can treatmany areas such as the cheeks, smile lines, under eye, lips and chin. Since hyaluronic acid is naturally occurring, this is our top choice for patients.
What Are Some Side Effects Of Dermal Fillers?
