Morning/Evening Winter Skincare Routine

1 - Wash Face with Cleanser:

Cold weather can cause your skin to get more irritated and dehydrated. That’s why it’s essential to find a cleanser that doesn’t dry out your skin but rather hydrates and moisturizes it! Look for “gentle” cleansers instead of ones with alpha or beta acids.

Recommendations:

2 - Apply Antioxidants:

Applying an antioxidant such as green tea, resveratrol, or vitamin C serum every morning is part of both an anti-aging regimen and protection for your skin from environmental elements.

Recommendations:

3 - Moisturize:

After you’ve washed your face and applied the anti-oxidant, applying moisturizer every day is essential to ensure your skin stays refreshed and hydrated. Moisturizer can be used throughout the day as needed to combat your dry skin and keep you hydrated.

Recommendations:

#4 - Sunscreen:

Yes, sunscreen! Even during the winter months, it’s recommended to apply sunscreen to further protect your skin as harmful rays still peak through on those cloudy and cold days. Sunscreen should be applied every morning and throughout the day.

Antiaging and Winter Days

It is common to include products such as retinols, alpha-hydroxy acids, and other products that can increase dry skin. Don’t let this cold air keep you from optimizing your anti-aging routine. If you notice yourself getting drier with these products make sure you add moisturizers or decrease the frequency of use.

One expert tip to incorporate retinols in the winter and minimize dryness and irritation is to incorporate a hyaluronic acid serum.  See below for your nighttime order of product use:

  1. Gentle cleanser

  2. Four drops of our moisture boost to full-face- Moisture boost

  3. Retinol- use one pad to pat all over face and discard- Retinol forte 2.5 pads

  4. Moisturizer: ADAM’s ultra-lite hydration or ADAM’s biocell repair (for extra anti-aging properties)

Expert tips for total body skincare in the Winter Months

Reduce Shower Time and Temperature

Whether you shower in the morning or nighttime, it’s important to change up your showering routine during the winter season. This includes using warm rather than hot water, limiting your shower time to 5 or 10 minutes, and only washing with a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser.

Apply Richer Moisturizer

Right after your shower, pat dry (so you are still a little damp), and within three minutes apply, apply richer and thicker moisturizer on your whole body. Applying moisturizer will help protect your skin throughout cold and dry nights.

Recommendations:

  • CeraVe CREAM

  • Vanicream CREAM (sticky and heavy, but very hydrating)

  • Cetaphil CREAM

Apply Lip Balm

Keep your lips protected overnight by applying moisturizing balm, doing so can help protect and heal dry or cracked lips.

Turn On Humidifier

Your heating system can dry out you and your house, running a humidifier throughout the day and night can help protect your skin from drying out.

Hang in there! Spring is around the corner, even in Chicago!!
